\nSomewhere out there on the oceans of time, back there in the past
\nWhere children play,
\nAnd the goddess’s love gently sways.
\nWe were a tribe then,
\nOur laughter was our sweet power.<\/p>\n
I need another island
\nover there past the waves of choice and consequence,
\npast my minds eye
\nWhere my loves wait,
\nReverbating glimpses of gentle eyes,
\nout there in the future.<\/p>\n
And strung between the two, safe,
\nI can weave my web.
\nWatching ripples.<\/p>\n
And today the ancestors voices resonate along the lines.
\nCalling the healers.<\/p>\n
Can you feel the guilt in your blood?
\nThe Colonial’s weight? The conqueror’s pride?
\nCan I reach beneath the gunwales of this sorrows charter ship
\nTo change the past?<\/p>\n
Aye, I’ll go down to row.
\nWith my hands on proven wood,
\nA strong back, a shared pride, toward a brighter day.<\/p>\n
Can I carry this defeated heart that courses still?
